Unprecedented Shramadan (Voluntary Service) by Seva Vasathi Workers at Ganagapur Sri Kshetra (10 Tractor-loads of Waste Collected) and Travel Story

The hardworking women, brothers, and sisters of Seva Vasathi, who live and struggle in the crowded lanes and small slums of big cities, took part in a joyful and meaningful shramadan. This made the Rashtrotthana-60 Seva Celebration truly special.

As part of the Rashtrotthana-60 Seva Celebrations, a four-day trip along with a shramadan program was conducted from January 29 to February 1. The group visited three to four beautiful religious, historical, and scenic places in North Karnataka.

A team of nearly 250 people, blessed by Sri Gurudatta, tirelessly cleaned a stretch of about two kilometres along the Bhima-Amaraja river and its banks at the Sri Datta Paduka Kshetra in Ganagapur. The buses were filled with songs, dance, group photos, selfies, and many sweet and happy moments.

Jan. 29 – 31: Around 250 selected workers from Rashtrotthana Seva Vasathi (Slum Development Programme) centres went on a trip to religious and historical places like Ganagapur, Badami, Aihole, Pattadakal, and Hampi.

About one and a half months earlier, during a meeting with division heads, an enthusiastic young worker and colleague named Nagaraj suggested organising a cleanliness drive at the Banashankari Temple in Bengaluru. However, it was suggested that instead of doing shramadan in a well-managed city like Bengaluru, it would be more meaningful to do it at the famous Badami Banashankari Temple and the surroundings of Sri Datta Mandir in Ganagapur in North Karnataka, where the need for cleanliness was much greater.

Accordingly, the travel plan and schedule were prepared. A total of 250 participants, including professional teachers and workers along with 6 staff members, were divided into 5 groups. The tour of 2 nights and 3 days was then officially launched.

Most of the Seva Vasathi residents were originally from Bengaluru and nearby districts, or from neighbouring states like Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh. Showing them the religious and historical places of North Karnataka, which are somewhat underdeveloped in cleanliness but are full of natural beauty, and doing shramadan there gave the effort even greater meaning and fulfilment.

On January 29, after lunch, 50 people each boarded 5 buses and the trip began. Here is the complete list of events during the tour:

After morning routines, the priests at the Shrimath arranged a special darshan of Guru Paduka for the shramadan volunteers
Breakfast and refreshments by 8:30 AM
Reaching the Bhima-Amaraja Sangama and beginning shramadan: Although the organisers had a small doubt about whether workers from a city like Bengaluru, who had no idea about the extent of waste at Ganagapur, could handle the shramadan, every sister and mother showed enthusiasm beyond expectations! They cleaned nearly a quarter kilometre of riverbank and surrounding shop areas in just three and a half hours, removing waste that filled about 10 tractors — a truly remarkable achievement. Earning the blessings of Sri Datta, the teams returned safely in high spirits.
Continuous shramadan was done without a break till around 12:30 PM
Many local people also participated actively. One elderly gentleman’s enthusiastic help and participation was especially heartwarming
The Sri Dattatreya Temple arranged juice for the tired volunteers as their small contribution
By 1 PM, a hot meal was prepared by the cooking team of brothers. Lunch was served thereafter
A blood donation camp was organised by a team of about 25 doctors and staff from the local Basaveshwara Hospital. Workers also donated blood. Around 47 units of blood were collected

Breakfast, then direct travel to Aihole
Guided visit to the beautiful and amazing sculptural temples and cave temples of Aihole and Pattadakal
Visit to the world-famous cave temples of Badami and darshan of Banashankari Devi, a Shaktipeeth; then back to Kerur for the night
Morning holy dip in the tanks at Mahakuteshwara Kshetra, water play, darshan, and then travel to Hampi
Darshan of Virupaksha Temple in Hampi, the Stone Chariot, and Ugra Narasimha
Dinner at a school in Hagaribommanahalli, and then travel back to Bengaluru
On February 1 morning at 6 AM, everyone returned home with sweet memories and a deep sense of satisfaction

Free from their daily struggles and busy routines for 4 days, the participants thoroughly enjoyed and experienced the tour to their heart’s content. They returned fully satisfied, bringing the trip to a happy and fulfilling close.

ಮಹಾನಗರಗಳ ಇಕ್ಕಟ್ಟಾದ ಸಂದಿ-ಓಣಿಗಳಲ್ಲಿ, ಕಷ್ಟಜೀವಿಗಳ ಕಿರು-ಕೇರಿಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಸಂಸಾರ, ಸಂಪಾದನೆ, ಸಂಕಷ್ಟದ ಸರಮಾಲೆಗಳ ತೊಟ್ಟರೂ, ದಿಟ್ಟತನದಿಂದ ಬಾಳ್ವೆ ನಡೆಸುವ ಸೇವಾವಸತಿಯ ಸತ್ಕಾರ್ಯ-ರತ ಸದ್ಗೃಹಿಣಿಯರ, ಸೋದರ-ಸೋದರಿಯರ ಸಡಗರದ ಶ‍್ರಮದಾನ ಸಹಿತ ಸಾರ್ಥಕ ಪ್ರವಾಸವು ಸಂಪನ್ನವಾಗಿ, ರಾಷ್ಟ್ರೋತ್ಥಾನ-60ರ ಸೇವಾಸಂಭ್ರಮವು ವಿಶಿಷ್ಟವೆನಿಸಿತು.

ರಾಷ್ಟ್ರೋತ್ಥಾನ–60ರ ಸೇವಾಸಂಭ್ರಮದ ಅಂಗವಾಗಿ ಸರಿಸುಮಾರು ನಾಲ್ಕು ದಿನಗಳ ಪ್ರವಾಸ ಹಾಗೂ ಅದರ ಮಧ‍್ಯದಲ್ಲೊಂದು ಶ್ರಮದಾನ ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮವು ಜನವರಿ 29 ರಿಂದ ‍ಫೆಬ್ರವರಿ 1ರ ವರೆಗೆ ವಿಶಾಲ ಕರ್ನಾಟಕದಲ್ಲಿನ ಉತ್ತರದ ಮೂರ್ನಾಲ್ಕು ಸುಂದರ ಧಾರ್ಮಿಕ-ಐತಿಹಾಸಿಕ-ರಮಣೀಯ ಕ್ಷೇತ್ರದರ್ಶನದೊಂದಿಗೆ ನೆರವೇರಿತು.

ಗಾಣಗಾಪುರದ ಶ್ರೀ ದತ್ತ ಪಾದುಕಾ ಕ್ಷೇತ್ರದ ಭೀಮಾ-ಅಮರಜಾ ನದಿಯ ಸುಮಾರು ಎರಡು ಕಿಲೋಮೀಟರ್ ಉದ್ದದ ನದಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಹಾಗೂ ದಡದಲ್ಲಿ ಗಣನೀಯ ಸ್ವಚ್ಛತಾ ಕಾರ್ಯಗಳನ್ನು ದಣಿವರಿಯದಂತೆ ಮಾಡಿ ಶ್ರೀ ಗುರುದತ್ತ ದೇವರ ಕೃಪಾಪಾತ್ರವಾದ ಸುಮಾರು 250 ಜನರ ತಂಡ! ಜೊತೆಗೆ ಬಸ್ಸುಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಹಾಡು, ಕುಣಿತ, ಜೊತೆಗೆ ಗ್ರೂಪ್ ಫೋಟೋಗಳು, ಸೆಲ್ಫೀ ಸನ್ನಿವೇಶಗಳು, ಭಿನ್ನ-ವಿಭಿನ್ನ ಸಿಹಿ-ಹಿತಾನುಭವಗಳ ಸಿಂಚನವಾಯಿತು.

ಜ. 29 – 31: ರಾಷ್ಟ್ರೋತ್ಥಾನ ಸೇವಾವಸತಿ (ಸ್ಲಂಗಳ ಸಮಗ್ರ ಅಭಿವೃದ್ಧಿ ಯೋಜನೆ) ಕೇಂದ್ರಗಳ ಆಯ್ದ 250 ಮಂದಿ ಕಾರ್ಯಕರ್ತರು ಗಾಣಗಾಪುರ, ಬದಾಮಿ, ಐಹೊಳೆ, ಪಟ್ಟದಕಲ್ಲು, ಹಂಪೆ ಮೊದಲಾದ ಧಾರ್ಮಿಕ-ಐತಿಹಾಸಿಕ ಕ್ಷೇತ್ರದರ್ಶನ ಪ್ರವಾಸವನ್ನು ಮಾಡಿದರು.

ಸುಮಾರು ಒಂದೂವರೆ ತಿಂಗಳ ಹಿಂದೆ ವಿಭಾಗ ಪ್ರಮುಖರೊಂದಿಗೆ ಒಂದು ಬೈಠಕದಲ್ಲಿ ಮಾತನಾಡುವಾಗ “RSS ನ ಶತಮಾನೋತ್ಸವ, ರಾಷ್ಟ್ರೋತ್ಥಾನದ 60 ವರ್ಷಪೂರ್ತಿ ಹಾಗೂ ರಾಷ್ಟ್ರಗಾನವಾಗಿರುವ ವಂದೇ ಮಾತರಂ ಗೀತೆಗೆ 150 ವಸಂತಗಳು ಪೂರ್ಣವಾಗಿರುವ ಅಪೂರ್ವ ಸುಯೋಗದ ಸ್ಮರಣಾಚರಣೆಯ ಪ್ರಯುಕ್ತ ಬೆಂಗಳೂರಿನ ಬನಶಂಕರೀ ದೇವಸ್ಥಾನದಲ್ಲಿ ಒಂದು ಸ್ವಚ್ಛತಾ ಅಭಿಯಾನವನ್ನೇಕೆ ಹಮ್ಮಿಕೊಳ್ಳಬಾರದೆಂಬ ವಿಚಾರವನ್ನು ಉತ್ಸಾಹೀ ಯುವಕಾರ್ಯಕರ್ತ ಹಾಗೂ ಸಹೋದ್ಯೋಗಿಯಾದ ನಾಗರಾಜ್ ಅವರು ಕೇಳಿದಾಗ, ಬೆಂಗಳೂರಿನಂಥಾ ಎಲ್ಲ ಸುವ್ಯವಸ್ಥೆಯಿರುವ ಕಡೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಶ್ರಮದಾನ ಮಾಡುವುದಕ್ಕಿಂತ ನಿಜವಾಗಲೂ ಶ್ರಮದಾನದ ಅವಶ್ಯಕತೆಯಿರುವ ಉತ್ತರ ಕರ್ನಾಟಕದ ಪ್ರಖ್ಯಾತ ಬಾದಾಮೀ ಬನಶಂಕರೀ ದೇವಳ, ಗಾಣಗಾಪುರದ ಶ್ರೀದತ್ತ ಮಂದಿರದ ಪರಿಸರವೇ ಸೂಕ್ತ ಎಂದು ಸಲಹೆ ಕೊಟ್ಟರು.

ಅದರಂತೆ, ಪ್ರವಾಸದ ನೀಲನಕ್ಷೆ, ರೂಪುರೇಷೆ ಸಿದ್ಧವಾಯಿತು. 4 ದಿನಗಳ ಪ್ರವಾಸದಲ್ಲಿ ಭಾಗವಹಿಸುವ ವೃತ್ತಿಪರ ಶಿಕ್ಷಕರು ಹಾಗೂ ಕಾರ್ಯಕರ್ತರು ಸೇರಿ, ಒಟ್ಟು 250 ಜನ ಹಾಗೂ 6 ಸಿಬ್ಬಂದಿಯನ್ನು 5 ಗುಂಪುಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ವಿಭಾಗಿಸಿ, 2 ರಾತ್ರಿ 3 ಹಗಲುಗಳ ಪ್ರವಾಸಕ್ಕೆ ನಾಂದಿ ಇಡಲಾಯಿತು.

ಬಹುತೇಕ ಬೆಂಗಳೂರು ಹಾಗೂ ಸುತ್ತಮುತ್ತಲ ಜಿಲ್ಲೆಗಳ ಜೊತೆಗೆ ಪಕ್ಕದ ರಾಜ್ಯಗಳಾದ ತಮಿಳುನಾಡು ಹಾಗೂ ಆಂಧ್ರ ಮೂಲದ ಜನರೇ ವಾಸಿಸುವ ಸೇವಾವಸತಿಗಳ ಜನರಿಗೆ, ಕರ್ನಾಟಕದ ಉತ್ತರ ಭಾಗದ ಪುಣ್ಯಕ್ಷೇತ್ರ ಕೊಂಚ ಹಿಂದುಳಿದ, ಪರಿಸರದ ಬಗೆಗಿನ ಸ್ವಚ್ಛತೆಯ ಕಾಳಜಿ ಕಡಿಮೆಯಿದ್ದರೂ ಅನನ್ಯ ಪ್ರಕೃತಿ ಸೌಂದರ್ಯ ಹೊಂದಿರುವ ಧಾರ್ಮಿಕ-ಐತಿಹಾಸಿಕ ಸ್ಥಳಗಳನ್ನು ತೋರಿಸಿ, ಅಲ್ಲಿ ಶ್ರಮದಾನ ಮಾಡಿದರೆ ಅದಕ್ಕೊಂದು ಹೆಚ್ಚಿನ ಅರ್ಥ, ಸಾರ್ಥಕತೆ.

ಜನವರಿ 29ನೇ ತಾರೀಕಿನಂದು ಮಧ್ಯಾಹ್ನದ ಊಟ ಮುಗಿಸಿ ತಲಾ 50 ಜನರು 5 ಬಸ್ಸುಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಪ್ರವಾಸ ಪ್ರಾರಂಭಿಸಿದರು. ಸಂಪೂರ್ಣ ಪ್ರವಾಸದ ಘಟನಾವಳಿಗಳ ಪಟ್ಟಿ ಹೀಗಿದೆ:

ಭೀಮಾ ಅಮರಜಾ ಸಂಗಮಕ್ಕೆ ತಲುಪಿ ಶ್ರಮದಾನದ ಶುಭಾರಂಭ: ಬೆಂಗಳೂರಿನಂತಹಾ ಪೇಟೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ವಾಸಿಸುವ ಕಾರ್ಯಕರ್ತರು ಗಾಣಗಾಪುರದ ನದೀ ಸಂಗಮ, ಅಲ್ಲಿಯ ಕಸದ ರಾಶಿ, ಸ್ವಚ್ಛತಾ ಕಾಮಗಾರಿಯ ಪರಿಪ್ರಮಾಣದ ಕಲ್ಪನೆಯೂ ಇರದವರ ಕೈಯಲ್ಲಿ ಶ್ರಮದಾನ ಸಾಧ್ಯವೇ ಎಂಬ ಸಣ್ಣ ಸಂದೇಹ ಸಂಘಟಕರಿಗೆ ಇತ್ತಾದರೂ, ನಿರೀಕ್ಷೆಗೂ ಮೀರಿದ ಉತ್ಸಾಹ ತೋರಿಸಿದ ಪ್ರತಿಯೊಬ್ಬ ಸೋದರಿಯರು ಹಾಗೂ ಮಾತೆಯರು ಸುಮಾರು ಕಾಲು ಕಿಲೋಮೀಟರ್‍ ಉದ್ದದ ನದಿತೀರ ಮತ್ತು ತಟದಲ್ಲಿನ ಗೂಡಂಗಡಿಗಳ ಪರಿಸರವನ್ನು ಕೇವಲ ಮೂರೂವರೆ ತಾಸಿನ ಅವಧಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಸ್ವಚ್ಛಗೊಳಿಸಿದರು! ಸರಿಸುಮಾರು 10 ಟ್ರಾಕ್ಟರ್ ತುಂಬುವಷ್ಟು ಕಸವನ್ನು ಹೊರತೆಗೆದು ಸಾಗಿಸಿ, ಅದ್ಭುತ ಸಾಧನೆ ಮಾಡಿದರು. ತನ್ಮೂಲಕ ಶ್ರೀದತ್ತಕೃಪೆಯನ್ನು ದಕ್ಕಿಸಿಕೊಂಡು, ಉಲ್ಲಾಸದೊಂದಿಗೆ ತಂಡಗಳು ಸುರಕ್ಷಿತವಾಗಿ ಮರಳಿದವು.
ಸರಿಸುಮಾರು ಮಧ್ಯಾಹ್ನ 12:30ರ ವರೆಗೆ ಬಿಡುವಿಲ್ಲದೇ ನಿರಂತರ ಶ್ರಮದಾನ ಮಾಡಲಾಯಿತು.
ಸ್ಥಳೀಯರನೇಕರ ಸಕ್ರಿಯ ಭಾಗವಹಿಸುವಿಕೆ. ಓರ್ವ ವಯೋವೃದ್ಧ ಸಜ್ಜನರ ಉತ್ಸಾಹದ ಸಹಾಯಹಸ್ತ, ಅದ್ಭುತ ಭಾಗವಹಿಸುವಿಕೆ, ಶ್ರಮದಾನದ ಸಂತೃಪ್ತಿ
ಶ್ರೀದತ್ತಾತ್ರೇಯ ದೇವಳದವರು ದಣಿದವರಿಗಾಗಿ ದಾಹ ತೀರಿಸಲು ಜ್ಯೂಸ್ ವ್ಯವಸ್ಥೆ ಮಾಡಿ ತಮ್ಮ ಅಳಿಲ ಸೇವೆ ಮಾಡಿದರು.
ಒಂದು ಗಂಟೆಗೆ ಅಡುಗೆ ತಂಡದ ಅಣ್ಣಂದಿರಿಂದ ಬಿಸಿ ಬಿಸಿ ಅಡುಗೆ ಆಗಿತ್ತು. ಆಮೇಲೆ ಊಟ ಮುಗಿದಿತ್ತು.
ಬಸವೇಶ್ವರ ಹಾಸ್ಪಿಟಲ್ ಎಂಬ ಸ್ಥಳೀಯ ಆಸ್ಪತ್ರೆಯ ಹತ್ತಾರು ವೈದ್ಯರು ಹಾಗೂ ಸಿಬ್ಬಂದಿಗಳ ಸುಮಾರು 25 ಜನರ ತಂಡದ ವತಿಯಿಂದ ರಕ್ತದಾನ ಶಿಬಿರ, ಕಾರ್ಯಕರ್ತರಿಂದ ರಕ್ತದಾನವೂ ನೆರವೇರಿತು. ಸುಮಾರು 47 ಯೂನಿಟ್‍ನಷ್ಟು ರಕ್ತ ಸಂಗ್ರಹವಾಯಿತು.
ದೇವಾಲಯದ ಮುಖ್ಯ ಅರ್ಚಕರ ತಂಡದೊಂದಿಗೆ ಸ್ಥಳಪುರಾಣ ಸಮಾಲೋಚನೆ.
ಶ್ರಮದಾನಿಗಳಿಗೆ ಶ್ರೀದತ್ತನ ಮಹಾಪ್ರಸಾದ ವಿತರಣೆ.
ಅಲ್ಲಿಂದ RVK-ಕೆರೂರಿನ ಕಡೆಗೆ ಪ್ರಯಾಣ, ರಾತ್ರಿ ಊಟ ಉಂಡು, ವಸತಿ.
ರಾತ್ರಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ನೆಮ್ಮದಿಯ ನಿದ್ದೆ ಮಲಗಿ, ಮಾರನೆಯ ಬೆಳಗ್ಗೆ 4ಕ್ಕೆ ಮತ್ತೆ ಎಚ್ಚರ.
5ಕ್ಕೆ ಕೆರೂರಿನಿಂದ ಕೂಡಲಸಂಗಮಕ್ಕೆ ಪ್ರಯಾಣ, 6 ಗಂಟೆಗೆ ತಲುಪಿದ್ದು.
ಸಂಗಮದಲ್ಲಿ ಮತ್ತೆ ಮಾಘ ಮಾಸದ ಪುಣ್ಯಸ್ನಾನ, ದೋಣಿ ವಿಹಾರದ ಹಿತಾನುಭವ.
ನಂತರ ಶ್ರೀಗುರು ಬಸವೇಶ್ವರ ದೇಗುಲ ಭೇಟಿ, ದರ್ಶನಭಾಗ್ಯ.
ಉಪಾಹಾರ ಮಾಡಿ ನೇರವಾಗಿ ಐಹೊಳೆ ಕಡೆಗೆ ಪ್ರಯಾಣ.
ಗೈಡ್ ಗಳ ಮಾರ್ಗದರ್ಶನದಲ್ಲಿ ಐಹೊಳೆ ಹಾಗೂ ಪಟ್ಟದಕಲ್ಲಿನ ಎಲ್ಲ ಅದ್ಭುತ, ಸುಂದರ ಶಿಲ್ಪಕಲೆಯ ದೇವಾಲಯಗಳು ಮತ್ತು ಗುಹಾಂತರ ದೇವಾಲಯಗಳಿಗೆ ಭೇಟಿ.
ಮುಂದೆ ಬದಾಮಿಯ ಜಗದ್ವಿಖ್ಯಾತ ಗುಹಾದೇವಾಲಯ ಹಾಗೂ ಶಕ್ತಿಪೀಠವಾದ ಬನಶಂಕರೀ ದೇವಿಯ ದರ್ಶನ, ಮತ್ತೆ ಕೆರೂರಿನಲ್ಲಿ ವಸತಿ.
ಬೆಳಗ್ಗೆ ಮಹಾಕೂಟೇಶ್ವರ ಕ್ಷೇತ್ರದ ತೀರ್ಥಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಪುಣ್ಯಸ್ನಾನ, ನೀರಾಟ, ದೇವರ ದರ್ಶನ, ಹಂಪಿಯ ಕಡೆ ಪ್ರಯಾಣ.
ಹಂಪಿಯ ವಿರೂಪಾಕ್ಷ ದೇವರ ದರ್ಶನ, ಕಲ್ಲಿನ ರಥ, ಉಗ್ರನರಸಿಂಹ ದರ್ಶನ.
